What to expect from counselling

Beginning counselling can feel like a big step and knowing what to expect can be helpful.

The complimentary 15-minute consultation is a brief opportunity to ask questions, discuss what support you are looking for and see whether working together feels like the right fit.

The first full session is an intake session. We will talk through what has brought you to counselling, what you would like support with, relevant background, and any goals or changes you may be hoping for.

Ongoing sessions are collaborative and paced to your needs. You do not need to have everything worked out before you begin. We can take time to understand what is happening, what feels difficult, and what kind of support may be most helpful.

As therapy continues, we may review what is working, adjust the focus as needed, and work toward changes that feel meaningful, realistic and supportive in your day-to-day life. Sessions can support practical coping skills while also exploring deeper patterns and core issues for lasting change.
