THERAPEUTIC WORKSHOP

Learn the Art of Precious Scars

Kintsugi by Healing Arts is a branch of my psychotherapy and counselling practice, offering emotionally restorative art workshops that support healing from trauma, loss, and transition through the symbolic and soulful practice of Kintsugi.

Derived from the Japanese words for “golden joinery”, Kintsugi is a 15th-century method of mending broken ceramics using gold — not to hide the cracks, but to highlight them as part of the object’s history and beauty. This serves as a deeply moving metaphor for emotional healing: embracing our flaws and seeing beauty in the broken.

These trauma-informed therapeutic workshops are a gentle, hands-on invitation to explore personal resilience, identity, grief, and renewal. Participants are guided in crafting their own functional Kintsugi piece while reflecting on how its metaphorical message applies to their emotional journey.

Facilitated across Perth suburbs — including Ellenbrook Arts HQ — these sessions are also delivered within:

  • Women’s refuges

  • Family support services

  • Trauma recovery spaces

  • Community and therapeutic group settings

They have been deeply valued for their quiet power to support self-worth, emotional repair, creative expression, and symbolic restoration. In the stillness of the creative process, participants often find a rare sense of calm, dignity, and the invitation to begin again.

“Mending with meaning. Where broken becomes beautiful again.”
